Srinagar: Christmas and New Year Guidelines: Alarmed by the rising resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic Dr. Fazlul Haseeb, Director of Tourism Kashmir, stated on Friday that there will be no compromise on social distancing and the use of face masks ahead of Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Dr. Haseeb said that “Covid is not a new thing for us.” Already, there are guidelines issued by the administration, which will be followed religiously on both occasions across Kashmir.
“We will ensure all standard operating procedures will be followed strictly, which includes social distancing, the use of face masks, etc. on Christmas and New Year celebrations,” he said.
Pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a high-level meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in India. The prime minister urged everyone to wear masks in crowded public places.
He also cautioned against complacency and directed officials to strengthen the ongoing surveillance measures, especially at international airports.
Yesterday, the Center also issued “Guidelines for International Arrivals,” which will come into effect on Saturday, i.e., December 24. The government also said that 2% of passengers arriving on each international flight will be subject to random coronavirus tests beginning on December 24. (With inputs from KNS)
