Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Manoj Sinha, announced on Tuesday that a remarkable milestone has been achieved in the realm of sports in the region.
Sinha said that in a span of just one year, an impressive number of 6 million youth actively engaged in diverse sporting events across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a press conference held at Raj Bhawan as per The Web Story, the Governor attributed this success to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sinha emphasized that J&K is progressively unleashing its true sporting potential, witnessing the emergence of new icons in various disciplines.
Lieutenant Governor (LG) highlighted the provision of multi-purpose indoor sports halls in every district of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at nurturing the talents of young sportspersons from the region.
The LG also emphasized the ongoing efforts to transform Gulmarg into a world-class winter sports destination, offering a remarkable experience for enthusiasts worldwide.
“Regrettably, due to time constraints, the plan to showcase Gulmarg’s scenic beauty to the G20 delegates might not materialize this time,” he added.
Earlier this year, the LG acknowledged a significant transformation among the youth in the region.
“Formerly misguided and involved in violent activities, many of these individuals have now embraced sports, with hockey sticks, cricket bats, tennis rackets, and badminton rackets replacing stones in their hands,” he said.
These resilient young champions are not only shaping their own future but also contributing to the advancement of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha said that their determination and accomplishments serve as a testament to their character, illuminating the region with their remarkable endeavors.
“Three years ago, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir took a pledge to win over all crises and problems,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
