Srinagar, July 19 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) media in-charge in Kashmir, along with other colleagues, were injured after they came under attack by an angry mob in the Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The mob was protesting against water scarcity in the area.
Reports reaching The Web Story/The Varmul Post said that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Social Media Incharge in Kashmir, Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah, and another Social Media Incharge, Er. Sahil Bashir Bhat, were injured after their vehicle was attacked by an angry mob in the Mirgund area of Pattan, where residents were protesting against the lack of water supply.
Soon after the attack, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
Speaking to The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Adv. Sajid said they were on their way to Baramulla and Kupwara for a meeting when they reached Pattan, where the angry mob attacked their vehicle. He stated that stones were pelted at their vehicle, injuring him and his colleagues, including their Personal Security Officers (PSOs).
Eye witnesses told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that a normal protest against water scarcity in Chainbal Patan turned violent, with reports of stone pelting. The Jammu and Kashmir police also resorted to action and tear gas shelling to disperse the angry mob on the national highway and save the stranded vehicles.
A police officer said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. He assured that all those involved in the stone pelting will be dealt with strictly for creating a law and order problem in the area.
