The Jammu and Kashmir Police made significant developments across the Kashmir valley on Tuesday. This included the arrest of seven drug peddlers. Additionally, ten individuals were apprehended for their involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Furthermore, the conclusion of a range-level volleyball tournament held in Anantnag was also announced.
In a statement issued to The Web Story police spokesperson said that a police party of Police Station Tarzoo at a checkpoint established at Pethseer Crossing, intercepted a person identified as Adil Ashraf Khan son of Muhammad Ashraf Khan resident of Pethseer Sopore. During the search, 248 SpasmoProxyvon Plus capsules have been recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tarzoo where he remained in custody.
It’s pertinent to mention here that various cases under NDPS have been registered against the said drug peddler in the years 2020, 2021 & 2022.
In Handwara, a Police party at a checkpoint established at Chotipora Handwara, intercepted a vehicle (TATA Magic) bearing registration number JK05B-1055 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Majeed Dar and Danish Ah Bhat son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of Batkot Handwara. During search, officers were able to recover 126 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In Baramulla, a police party of Police Post Delina headed by IC PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Juhama-Kanispora, intercepted a non-local identified as Arhan Khan son of Iftikhar Khan resident of Gaukhana Kadim Uttar Pradesh at present Kanthbagh Baramulla. During search, 14 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla where he remains in custody.
In a similar action, a Police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by IC PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Jheel Bund Pattan, intercepted a vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration DL10CT-1577 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Zubair Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh resident of Lawaypora Srinagar, Imran Hussain Malla son of Gh Mohammad Malla resident of Yakhmanpora & Mohd Amin Waza son of Manzoor Ahmad Waza resident of Shahtulpora Sumbal. During search, 28 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan were they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In another case, Police have arrested 10 persons and seized as many vehicles in Kulgam & Baramulla.
A Police party led by DySP Hqrs Kulgam along with SHO Police Station Kulgam, during patrolling at Matalhama Kulgam, arrested five persons and seized five vehicles (Dumpers) for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh resident of Sumarbugh, Lasjan, Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Muhammad Dar resident of Zanipora, Pampora, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi son of Nazir Ahmad Reshi, Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar and Javid Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Sultan Dar, all residents of Lethpora, Pulwama.
In Baramulla, A Police parties under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla & SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg & IC PP Delina seized 05 vehicles (02 Tippers & 03 Tractors) & arrested their drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Shrai Tangmarg & Delina Ghat, Baramulla. The arrested drivers have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohd resident of Bumkul Kunzer, Riaz Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Ahmad resident of Atipora, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohd, Danish Hassan Khan son of Ghulam Hassan & Arfat Ahmad Malik son of Ali Mohd, all residents of Delina Ghat Baramulla.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
Meanwhile, a Range Level Volleyball tournament which was organised by J&K Police under Civic Action Programme at District Police Lines Anantnag, concluded.
The tournament was inaugurated on 04/01/2024, in which 16 teams from South Kashmir Range participated. The final match was played between Spartan Volleyball Club Anantnag and Pulwama-B which was won by Spartan Anantnag by 2-0.
At the closing ceremony, cash prizes, trophies and mementos were distributed among the winning & runner-up teams, man of the final match, man of the series and match officials. The participating teams lauded the role of J&K Police for organizing such events and urged for more such event in future also.
The main motive of organising the event was to promote & boost sporting culture among youth besides, to impart a sense of discipline and sportsmanship among them.
