Srinagar, Oct 22: As the Indian cricket team prepares for its second Test match against New Zealand in Pune, a 20-year-old Kashmiri fast bowler has been selected as a net bowler sources said.
Sources told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that Mohammad Ali Mir, from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, has been selected net bowler for the Indian Test squad ahead of the upcoming match against New Zealand at the Pune cricket stadium.
Sources said that Mir moved to Pune in 2017 through the Aseem Foundation, a Pune-based NGO, during a period of unrest in Kashmir. The foundation facilitated his education in Pune, and he completed 12th grade last year.
While studying in Pune, Mir developed a deep passion for cricket, frequently participating in inter-school matches. Recognizing his bowling talent, the Aseem Foundation enrolled him in the HK Bounce cricket academy, where he trained under coach Hemant Kinikar. Over time, Mir progressed to higher levels of play, achieving significant milestones that are now coming to light sources said.
On the first day of his selection, Mir had an outstanding session in the nets and received praise from cricket stars including Virat Kohli and KL Rahul sources further added.
