High-Tech Displays and Performances Reinforce Community Ties
Baramulla witnessed a dazzling display of high-tech equipment and captivating performances at the “Know Your Army” mela on Saturday, an event designed to strengthen the bond between the Army and the local community.

An official told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that Aimed at educating the youth about the Army organised event highlighted the close relationship between “Awaam and Jawaan” in Baramulla.

He said the event featured a flyover by drones, demonstrations of artillery in action, displays of new-generation vehicles, and the latest military equipment, all of which were major attractions.
The official said that a National Flag was also raised on a military mast at a height of 35 meters, symbolizing national pride.

The festivities began with 150 children entering the grounds, carrying a 500-meter-long National Flag as part of the Tiranga Yatra, which commenced from the DC office to the Festive Ground he said.

The official further said to Web Story/The Varmul Post that, the event was organised by Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, the event commemorated the 76th Republic Day. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dagger Division served as the Chief Guest, accompanied by the Commander of Baramulla Brigade. Officials from the district administration, as well as representatives from other security forces, including the BSF, CRPF, and JKP, were also in attendance. Over 2,500 community members, including esteemed civil society representatives, youth leaders, students, and families from diverse backgrounds, gathered to participate in the event.

Shadaab, a young attendee from Old Town, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is the first time such an event has been held here. The Sikh Gatka and the performance by trained Army dogs were amazing.” Rehman Malik, a college student at GDC Baramulla, shared his excitement about the military displays: “I have never seen such an impressive array of weapons and vehicles. The Military Band performance was truly unique.”
Local youth leader Touseef Raina remarked, “Events where the Army engages with youth dispel myths and instill pride in our military. This event has motivated many to consider joining the defense forces.”
Activities included a drive-by of the latest military vehicles, a drone flyover, karate demonstrations by Chinar YUVA Karate Kids, an Army Martial Arts display called “AMAR,” a military band performance, a dog show featuring the Army’s K9 units, and Sikh martial art Gatka. Stalls showcased army equipment, and a Mobile Museum narrated stories of camaraderie between the Awaam and Jawaan of Baramulla. Additionally, a recruitment counter provided information on how to join he further added.
