NIA Likely to Take Over Investigation

Suhail Khan

Ganderbal, Oct 23 : The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated that he won’t tolerate any act of terrorism anymore in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

LG Sinha, as per The Web Story/The Varmul Post, said that police and other security forces have been given instructions and full freedom to track down and eliminate the perpetrators of the heinous act.

He said that the brutal and savage attack against construction workers will be avenged. I’ve asked the J&K Police and security forces to exact a price that will be remembered by the terrorists and their associates for time to come.

He said I have complete faith in the bravery of our personnel and the perpetrators of this attack will be punished soon. Our security forces will also hunt down those elements who are helping the terrorists and trying to disrupt J&K’s developmental journey.

LG sinha said that I have interacted with officers of J&K Police, Civil Admin, workers, and officers of the project implementing agency at Gagangir.

The Jammu and Kashmir LG said that I have also chaired a security review meeting, and I assure the people and dedicated workers and officers that the perpetrators of the recent terror attack will not be spared.

He said according to an initial investigation, two people with masks covering their faces—both possibly foreign militants—entered the mess of the company constructing the Z-morh tunnel and opened indiscriminate fire. Seven people were killed and four injured.

Sinha further said both the terrorists reportedly infiltrated from the Bandipora area of north Kashmir. “They are being tracked and will be neutralized,” he said.

A doctor was among seven employees of an infrastructure company who were attacked and killed in the first major incident targeting construction workers on a large infrastructure project in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening.

Official sources told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that this deadliest attack occurred in a region that has seen little to no militant presence in the last decade.

They stated that this is the first major attack in the Valley targeting construction workers of a large infrastructure project. Ganderbal district, which has long been regarded as a peaceful area, has seen non-locals targeted for the first time in recent years.

Meanwhile, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to take the Ganderbal deadliest terror attack case officially in the next few days, top official sources said.

Official sources told The Web Story/ The Varmul Post that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is preparing to investigate the recent terror attack in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Sources said that the NIA’s involvement is part of its ongoing efforts to investigate terror activities in the region, with security agencies suspecting the involvement of a newly infiltrated terrorist group.

Sources said that CCTV footage from the area is also being scrutinized, and besides security agencies, more than 50 suspects have been called for questioning as part of investigations into this deadly attack.

A senior police officer told The Web Story/The Varmul Post that “We will get them (terrorists) sooner or later. We have picked up several suspects for questioning, but no one has been arrested so far.
