Union Minister of MOSJ&E Dr. Virendra Kumar virtually inaugurated the ‘Purple Festival’ in J&K, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
This two-day festival is a celebration of inclusion and diversity, and J&K is the second place in the country where it is being organized, after Goa.
The Purple Festival marks a milestone in the journey of empowerment for Divyangjan in J&K. Its aim is to inspire every citizen to work towards the empowerment and rehabilitation of Divyangjan, and to build an inclusive society.
The J&K Administration is committed to creating an environment that provides equal opportunities and protects the rights of Divyangjan. They have already achieved saturation in the distribution of motorized scooties and have taken over Abhinandan Home for specially-abled students.
However, it is important for all stakeholders, including society and NGOs, to adopt a multi-dimensional approach and collaborate in order to enable persons with disabilities to realize their full potential.
The private sector has made impressive strides in new technology, and Lt. Guv Manoj Sinha urges private companies and individual innovators to develop user-friendly instruments for Divyangjan, which will aid in their rehabilitation process and empowerment.
In the last financial year, 384 Divyangjan were provided with government jobs, and the reservation for Divyangjan has increased from 3 to 4 percent. The administration is committed to filling these posts, whether through PSC or JKSSB, within 6 months. Additionally, they will prepare a legal framework to ensure employment opportunities for Divyangjan in the private sector.
This news was posted by the Office of LG J&K on their official post of X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the efforts and commitment of the J&K Administration towards the empowerment and inclusion of Divyangjan in the region.
