Former Member of Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baigh while reacting to the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, said that “bulldozer” is a sign of power.
Speaking to the Web Story correspondent, Baig said that if anyone has illegally occupied state land then the authorities must inform the those before taking any strict action.
“People should be informed by concerned tehsildars, and a proper time should be given to vacate the land, but not in the way as per reports are coming where people are alleging that without serving notice, action is being taken against them,” he said.
Baig said warnings should be given to those who had illegally occupied state land before the action.
He said that the government is meant to be a parent to the people, but here in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, people are being given a very hard time, which is a concern.
He said if shopkeepers are being bulldozed, the government should look for alternatives for them before being so harsh.
While reacting to the elections, the former member of Parliament said before conducting elections, it was necessary to look into the issue of people who are suffering, to have a dialogue on this serious issue, and then go for elections.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has assured people that the administration will safeguard the habitants and the livelihood of the common man.
He dismissed as “misinformation” the claim that the common man will be impacted in the anti-encroachment drive launched last month across Jammu and Kashmir.
“Only influential and powerful people who misuse their position and violate the law to encroach upon the state land would face the law of the land,” Sinha has said.
