The Gurez Valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has proven itself as a top offbeat tourist destination within just a year. Today, Dawar village in the valley has achieved a significant milestone by bagging the Best Tourism Village award from the Union Ministry of Tourism.
The unparalleled beauty and charm of Dawar village captivated the hearts of tourists, earning it the highly coveted golden category award.
The award was received by JK’s Tourism Secretary, Syed Abid Rashid, on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir government.
It is truly awe-inspiring to witness the transformative journey of the Gurez Valley, which once experienced the shadows of distress due to cross-border conflicts and skirmishes between militants and soldiers. However, this valley has overcome those challenging times and has emerged as a beacon of hope and tranquilly for visitors.
The Gurez Valley has garnered immense attention and curiosity from both domestic and international travelers. This year alone, the valley has welcomed an astounding 1.55 crore tourists from within the country, with an additional 40,000 foreign guests fortunate enough to experience its enchanting allure.
