Sopore, Aug. 29: The Government Girls High School at Ningli area of Tarzoo Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is facing an imminent threat to the safety of students due to the absence of a protective boundary around the school premises.

The absence of a protective wall, according to locals, has left the students vulnerable to potential encounters with untamed wildlife.

Speaking exclusively to The Web Story, Aijaz Ahmed Dar, a senior citizen, expressed his distress, saying, “Our children are pursuing their studies in a remarkable two-story architectural marvel.”

However, the shocking lack of a proper perimeter fence has left us all in a state of constant worry.

” It is high time the authorities prioritize the safety of our cherished children and take swift action before any unfortunate man-animal conflict mars this idyllic area,” he said.

Allegations have also emerged that miscreants have illegally encroached upon the land that rightfully belongs to the school.

Despite the Revenue Department officially demarcating the land in 2020, their efforts to reclaim it from these encroachers have fallen frustratingly short.

The school, which currently hosts around 150 students, finds itself in dire need of a protective fence to shield its students from potential harm.

The concerned authorities have been alerted about the situation, as teachers emphasize the crucial importance of installing a boundary wall that will act as an impregnable shield against the untamed inhabitants of the wilderness.

In response to mounting concerns, the newly appointed headmaster of the school admitted, “I have only recently assumed my role here and wasn’t fully aware of the situation.”

“I have, however, been informed that we have forwarded representations to the higher authorities, urging them to prioritize the installation of a secure fence for the safety and peace of mind of our beloved students,” he said.

With the residents and school authorities jointly appealing to the higher authorities for swift and appropriate action, it is hoped that the urgent plea for a fortified barrier to protect the Government Girls High School in Tarzoo will be heard.

In response to the concern, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, said he was unaware of the situation.

However, he assured that he would personally visit the school to assess the situation and take appropriate measures to rectify this serious security lapse.
