Don’t you want to just escape from a crowded place and relax in the woods with a hot cup of nun chai or coffee while enjoying unparalleled views? Well, you certainly can do this now in Sopore’s tourist village.
Yes, you read it right. Sopore’s Manglu, a popular tourist spot, is now gearing up to welcome tourists as local residents have started offering homestay facilities.
This development provides an excellent opportunity for people from across Kashmir and other places to avail themselves of homestay options in the upper belt of Sopore.
Previously known for its bustling atmosphere and picturesque surroundings, Manglu is now expanding its offerings by accommodating tourists overnight.
Local residents, recognizing the potential for tourism in the area, have taken the initiative to establish homestay facilities.
“This allows visitors to experience the authentic local lifestyle, immerse themselves in the culture, and support the local economy,” said Furkan Janwari, who visits this place regularly.
He said homestays provide a unique travel experience by allowing guests to stay with local families in their homes.
“Visitors get a glimpse into the daily lives of residents, offering a more intimate and personalized experience compared to traditional accommodation options,” he added.
Irfan Shah, president of Valley Wanders, an off-road club, told The Web Story that the introduction of homestay facilities in Manglu will not only benefit tourists but also have the potential to positively impact the local community.
He said it opens up avenues for income generation and employment opportunities for local residents, as they can provide hospitality services and showcase the beauty of their region to visitors.
“This can result in economic growth and the development of sustainable tourism practices,” ” he added.
Waris Fayaz, a student, told The Web Story that, apart from its natural beauty, Manglu offers various attractions and activities for tourists.
He said the surrounding area provides opportunities for hiking, trekking, and exploring nature trails.
He said visitors can immerse themselves in the serene environment, enjoy the picturesque landscapes, and experience the hospitality of the local community.
Manglu’s strategic location makes it a convenient base for exploring other tourist destinations in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, including Gurez Valley.
He further said that visitors can plan day trips to nearby attractions like Wular Lake, Manasbal Lake, and the historic town of Sopore.
It is pertinent to mention here that the emergence of homestay facilities in Manglu, Sopore’s popular tourist spot, marks an exciting development for both tourists and the local community, and it will also offer economic opportunities. As more visitors discover the hidden gem of Manglu, it has the potential to become a thriving and responsible tourist destination in northern Kashmir.
