SOPORE, December 26 : Sara Medicate Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has launched a community healthcare initiative to provide complimentary dental treatment to the most marginalized residents.
The programme will offer free consultations and essential dental procedures to orphans, widows, holders of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards, and other financially vulnerable patients who typically lack access to affordable oral healthcare.
Speaking to The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad MD of Sara Medicate said that the effort seeks to eliminate cost as a barrier to treatment. “For many, even basic dental care remains out of reach,” Dr. Ahmad stated. “This initiative is founded on the principle that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Dental pain can severely impair a person’s ability to eat, speak, and engage socially. Our goal is to restore function, health, and confidence to those who need it most completely free of charge.”
Dr. Ahmad added, “Through this effort, we aim to ensure that no one in our community is forced to endure preventable pain simply because they cannot afford care.”
The initiative has been welcomed locally as a practical step toward inclusive healthcare.
“It is truly a blessing that poor people will receive free treatment here,” said Ghulam Hassan, a local resident, who praised the clinic’s efforts to serve the community.
Another resident also commended the initiative, expressing hope that it continues so that those in need can find lasting relief.
