Leh, Oct 31: A seven-decade-long conflict over the ‘Chooq’ pastureland between the villages of Youljuk and Khaous has been peacefully resolved, marking a landmark achievement for community harmony in the region.
The breakthrough followed the dedicated efforts of Mr. Agha Syed Abbas Rizvi, former Executive Councilor of Taisuru. Acting on a request from the villagers of Youljuk, Mr. Rizvi advocated for their long-pending case before the high authorities of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, which led to a collaborative on-site resolution.
“This is a moment we have prayed for,” said a representative of the Youljuk Village Committee. “For generations, this issue has been a source of tension. To see it resolved with such goodwill marks a new beginning for our communities.”
The successful mediation, supported by the presence of the Honorable Councilor of Taisuru, Mr. Abdul Hadi, is being celebrated not only as an administrative success but also as a significant step toward lasting peace. The resolution is expected to end the long-standing enmity and foster a new era of cooperation between the two villages.
In a statement, the residents of Youljuk expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Rizvi, referencing a noble Hadith that emphasizes the importance of thanking those who do good. They praised his sincere commitment and pivotal role in bridging a divide that has persisted for decades.
