Handwara, June 07 : No one can escape destiny, nor control fate. Yet to earn with dignity, one needs neither luck nor destiny. What truly matters are hard work and dedication—regardless of struggles or challenges. Even with modest earnings, there is peace in living with self-respect.
This is the story of Adil Hassan, a young man from Rajwar, Handwara. Despite holding a Master’s degree and relentlessly pursuing a government job, he turned to selling omelets on wheels to earn his livelihood after failing to secure public-sector employment.
Now stationed near GMC Handwara, Adil earns an honest living with pride. His journey is not just an inspiration to those who see failure as an endpoint but also proof that hard work—even in small endeavors—can sustain a dignified life.
In conversation with The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Adil advised youths struggling to clear the SSB after multiple attempts: “Step out of your comfort zone, work hard, and embrace any honest job with pride. Remember, no work is insignificant—what matters is one’s determination.”
Notably, many educated youths in Kashmir, especially in the north, remain fixated on government jobs as the only respectable option. This mindset fuels personal crises and familial burdens. Trapped between unemployment and age-related eligibility pressure, some become dependent on their families or fall prey to social evils like drugs.
Amid Kashmir’s worsening unemployment crisis, Adil’s resolve underscores a vital truth: dignity in labor can forge a meaningful life.
