As per Preliminary Investigation Two Pak Based LeT militants behind Narcotics Trade ; Officials
Kupwara, May 13 : A narco-terror module has was busted by the Police and Army in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir along with the arrest of four smugglers in this connection.
An official told The Web Story that on specific tip off that a Punjab based Narco smuggler has arrived in the district at a pre-decided location to take a consignment or narcotics.
The officer said a joint search operation by Kupwara police along with local Army unit was launched in Zurhama area of Trehgam.
He said during the operation four persons identified as Yousuf Bokra son of Suba Bokra of Rashanpora Kralpora, Showkat Ahmad Khatana son of Abdul Rashid Khatana of Meliyal Kupwara, Maroof Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Rafiq Mir of Jumagaad At Present Zurhama Kupwara and Laba Masih son of Sadiq Masih of Awaan Ramdas Ajnala of district Amritsar Awaan have been arrested.
The officer said when all the four were in the process of exchanging smuggled narcotics and case among themselves.
During the preliminary investigations, it has transpired that the narcotic consignment has been sent by two POJK based terrorist handlers of Lashkar-e-Toiba namely Manzoor Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir and Asad Mir son of Diya Mir both originally residents of Jumagund Kupwara who have exfiltrated to PoJK in early 1990’s to join terrorist ranks.
The officer said both over a period of time have become terrorist handlers of LeT mainly acting as laughing commanders besides pushing narcotics and weapons to sustain terrorist activities in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The officer said that sofar 8 packets of narcotics ( Heroine like substance) weighing about 8 Kilograms along with Rs 5 lac cash in Indian currency notes has been recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.
The officer further said that a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in the police station Trehgam.
The officer further said that more arrests and recoveries can’t be ruled out.
