Jammu, Mar. 15 : Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that the National Education Policy has given us an opportunity to promote sports through a multidisciplinary system and end fragmentation in the education system.
The Lieutenant Governor (L-G), after inaugurating the Chancellor’s Trophy at the Jammu University earlier today, said sports nurture both mind and body and enable students to become well-rounded across disciplines. He also called upon higher education institutions to promote sports as a core subject.
LG said the sport is a powerful medium to ensure physical-emotional health, enhance learning efficiency, and help build character.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha last week said that the youth of the valley have replaced stones with a cricket bat, a hockey stick, and a badminton racket and are scripting their future in the field of sports.
Since the launch of NEP last year in the month of November, LG Manoj Sinha’s National Education Policy has played a significant role in making India a knowledge superpower. Since government educational institutions are equipped with the requisite tools and resources on par with private institutions, we need to assess our national and global ranking and take corrective measures.
The National Education Policy promotes collaborations between disciplines to foster innovation and creativity. In the future, sustainable technological advances will be driven by people having an interdisciplinary approach, he added.
