NEW DELHI, Nov. 12 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the government’s policy of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism, following a high-level meeting of the Union Cabinet convened on Wednesday.

The emergency session was called in response to a deadly car explosion near the Red Fort two days earlier.

The blast on Monday resulted in 10 fatalities and left 24 injured, creating a scene of devastation with wrecked vehicles and casualties.

Prime Minister Modi has directed that the investigation into the attack be conducted with the utmost urgency and professionalism. He mandated that the perpetrators, along with their collaborators and sponsors, be identified and swiftly brought to justice.

“The government reaffirms its steadfast resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of all citizens, consistent with its enduring commitment to national security,” an official statement read, stated that the situation is being monitored at the highest levels.

Earlier on Wednesday, immediately upon returning from an official visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Modi visited the injured at Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital.

The attack coincides with a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough. In a separate operation, authorities arrested eight individuals—including three doctors—and seized 2,900 kg of explosives after uncovering an alleged “white-collar” terror module.

The network has been linked to the banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, with operations spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Among those detained were Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, both affiliated with Al Falah University in Faridabad. A subsequent search of the university premises led to the recovery of 360 kg of ammonium nitrate.
