Jammu, May 10 : The top security officials on Tuesday said that Pakistan is attempting to revive terrorism in the Jammu region following a series of militant attacks in Rajouri-Poonch.
The attacks, which have been linked to Pakistan-based militants, are believed to be aimed at disturbing the peace in the region following the abrogation of Article 370.
A top security official told The Web Story that frustration of Pakistan is clearly seen in the Jammu region post-abrogation of Article 370; he said it’s an attempt to disturb the peace in the region.
He said attempts are being made to disturb the situation in the Jammu region as the atmosphere of peace and tranquility is returning to the valley after the abrogation of Article 370.
The officer said after the ground scenario had completely changed in the valley post-Abrogation of 370, and attempts from the enemy side were being witnessed in the Jammu region.
“Pakistan’s target is to affect the peaceful environment in the region,” he added.
Another top security official, wishing anonymity, stated that the people of the Kashmir region are striving towards a better future, which has disrupted Pakistan’s mission of using them as victims of their proxy war. Instead, Pakistan is now attempting to disrupt the Jammu sector through consecutive efforts.
He said our jawans posted along the LOCs across the region have upped the ante to counter any nefarious design from across the border.
“We are totally in control of the situation and making sure to successfully fight the terror groups that are trying to disturb peaceful environments in the Jammu sector,” he said.
He further added that the security forces, besides protecting the border, are ready to safeguard the people in the region from enemies.
After the abrogation of Article 370, the militant number has drastically reduced in the UT.
“Many top militant commanders were eliminated among the numbers, and efforts are on to kill the rest surviving,” he added.
Former JK director general of police (DGP) S P Vaid also reacted to the Rajouri-Poonch militant attacks, quoted by PTI saying Pakistan is now targeting Jammu sector’s areas that have been free of militancy for the past 17–18 years.
He said the attempt is a clear indication that Pakistan, after suffering setbacks in Kashmir, is now trying to disturb a peaceful environment in the Pir Panjal region.
Pertinently, five soldiers were killed and a major-ranking officer injured in the blast triggered by the militants in the woods last week, but the Army then claimed to have killed one militant in the ongoing anti-militancy operation.
On Sunday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited Rajouri district to get a firsthand account of the security situation in the district.
He interacted with the soldiers at the Army Base Camp in the district.
He also motivated them to continue serving the nation with bravery and dedication. He boosted the morale of soldiers and stated that entire nations stand with them.
