Sopore: Former Jammu and Kashmir legislator Haji Abdul Rashid on Tuesday made a startling claim, alleging that all political parties in the region are backed by the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

In an interview with a local news portal as per Webstory, Rashid asserted that there are no discernible differences among the parties, as they are all essentially the same as the BJP.

Rashid said that the political parties in question are all backed by the BJP based on the current internal situation.

He expressed indifference towards joining either the BJP or another party, as they all share the same views.

Furthermore, he claimed that no leader in Jammu and Kashmir opposes the BJP, and none have the courage to criticize the party even briefly, indicating that they are all collaborating.

He said that the BJP has allegedly been taking care of all political parties except Congress.

Rashid made the statement in light of the recent expulsion from the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) for alleged anti-party activities.

The expulsion occurred last week, and Haji Rahsid was removed from the primary membership of the DPAP.

Rashid, who had won the 2014 assembly election from the Sopore constituency of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Congress ticket, was among the founding members of the DPAP, which was formed by former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in September last year after ending his five-decade-long association with the grand old party.
