Vow to Remain Loyal

Baramulla, Sep 07 : The alliance between the National Conference (NC) and the Congress party has caused turmoil within the political landscape in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with numerous leaders from both parties feeling distressed. Despite the unrest, the leaders of the Baramulla Congress unit have remained loyal to their party.
Sources close to the Congress Party have revealed to The Web Story/The Varmul Post that all is not well within the Baramulla Congress unit since the formation of the NC-Congress Alliance.
According to the sources, the party has disregarded certain principles and forgotten party norms. The alliance’s implementation within the Baramulla Congress unit has been lacking.
Insiders have informed The Web Story/The Varmul Post that despite the finalization that the National Conference would contest the Baramulla Constituency with full support from the Congress, things changed within the Congress unit in Baramulla after a few days. Some leaders attempted to take advantage of the situation, even though the top leadership of the party has not made any statement confirming that the Baramulla seat will be contested in a friendly manner.
The insiders stated that even if the Baramulla seat is contested by the Congress-NC through a friendly understanding, it is unsettling and demonstrates how the party overlooks its fundamental principles.
Furthermore, the insiders claim that the disputed involvement of Mir Iqbal, a leader from another constituency, in the Baramulla seat raises concerns about the local Congress leaders who have steadfastly supported the party at the grassroots level for the past 15 years.
According to the insiders, after the alliance was finalized, it was explicitly communicated that anyone going against the alliance would be expelled from the party. However, no action has been taken against the leaders who went against this agreement in relation to the Baramulla seat.
Meanwhile, sources close to the party have informed The Web Story/The Varmul Post that the local leadership of the Baramulla Congress unit feels deeply hurt and betrayed by the alliance, but they maintain their loyalty to the party.
The Web Story/The Varmul Post spoke with some Congress leaders, including Advocate Shiekh Aamir, who has been a steadfast supporter of the party in Baramulla town for many years. Aamir said, “It is undoubtedly a painful moment for me, but I stand with my party and will always work under the Congress banner.” He added, “Undoubtedly, all is not well within our Baramulla Congress unit, with senior leaders not including everyone, but I will firmly remain in the party and support its norms.”
Meanwhile, the political landscape of Kashmir has reached a point where betrayal, broken promises, and disregard for principles have become common occurrences.
In the upcoming assembly elections, Kashmir politics has already showcased various shades, from resignations and rejoinings to betrayal and broken promises.
The question remains: Can people vote wisely despite seeing the true colors of politics?
