Jomel Warrican led Pakistan’s demolition on Day 3 of the second Test in Multan with a fifer, scripting a historic 120-run victory for West Indies to help draw the two match series at 1-1. Warrican claimed four of the six Pakistan wickets to fall on Monday as the home side collapsed form 76/4 to 133 all out in just over an hour, giving West Indies their first win in the country in 34 years.

Pakistan needed 178 to sweep the series while West Indies began the day with a more realistic shot at creating history for which they needed only six wickets. Kevin Sinclair took all of three balls to make an impact as he got Saud Shakeel to pop a leading edge to first slip. Pakistan lost their second wicket of the morning without having added a run off their bats when Warrican bowled Kashif Ali, the nightwatch, with his second delivery of the day.

The two new batters in – Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha – took the aggressive route, even if briefly, to try and put the pressure back on the West Indies spinners. Their 39-run partnership came to an end when Warrican trapped Salman plumb LBW in the over after the batter survived a stumping appeal by the barest of margins. Soon after, Rizwan was bowled through the gate and it was only a matter of time now for West Indies.

Noman Ali struck a six off Gudakesh Motie to open his account before sending a comfortable catch to Warrican at mid-off next delivery. In the succeeding over, Sajid Khan dragged an inside edge onto his stumps to give Warrican a fifer and West Indies a drought-breaking victory.

Brief scores: West Indies 163 (Gudakesh Motie 55 Jomel Warrican 36*; Noman ali 6-42) and 244 (Kraigg Brathwaite 52; Sajid Khan 4-76, Noman ali 4-80) beat Pakistan 154 (Mohammad Rizwan 49; Jomel Warrican 4-43, Gudakesh Motie 3-49) and 133 (Babar Azam 31, Mohammad Rizwan 25; Jomel Warrican 5-27, Kevin Sinclair 3-61) by 120 runs.
