Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants have been killed in an encounter in Shopian village of the southern region of Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
Police in a tweet said, Among 03 neutralised local #terrorists, 02 identified as Lateef Lone of #Shopian, involved in #killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Shri Purana Krishna Bhat & Umer Nazir of Anantnag, involved in killing of Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal. 01 AK 47 rifle & 2 pistols recovered.
Earlier, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the army’s 1 RR, and paramilitary forces cordoned off the area after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
When they zeroed in on the target, the militants opened fire, which was retaliated against by the forces, leading to a gunfight.
