Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Monday said security forces in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir had killed 44 top militant commanders this year so far.

The top police chief said that militancy has reached its lowest level in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir owing to the support of the locals, including the youth.

He said at present there are no top militant commanders left; the efforts of security forces have killed them all.

The police, along with security forces, is foiling the conspiracy by Pakistan to spoil the atmosphere in the state.

The J-K DGP said that work is being done to wipe out the ecosystem that supports terrorism in Kashmir and stated that those taking up guns are being neutralized as soon as possible. (With agency assistance)
