Sopore, Nov 21: The Sopore Industries Association has elected Junaid Janwari as its new president, marking a significant leadership change after 25 years. This transition aims to foster development and enhance the welfare of the local industrial sector.
The change was initiated after unit holders passed a no-confidence motion to remove the former president, subsequently electing Junaid Janwari to lead the association.
Following his oath-taking ceremony, the newly elected President pledged to “leave no stone unturned” in uplifting the industry. He acknowledged that while Sopore’s industry is already among the best in Kashmir, he is committed to driving further growth.
Speaking to The Web Story/The Varmul Post, Junaid said, “We will work to generate more employment opportunities and help additional businesses flourish.”
He emphasized his dedication to advocating for the industry at all governmental levels. “From the current state government to the central government, I will not hesitate to engage with the relevant authorities for the betterment and welfare of this industry,” he stated.
Janwari expressed his gratitude to the unit holders for their trust. “I am very thankful to all the unit holders who placed their faith in me and provided me with this opportunity to serve them,” he said. He also thanked the former president, Javid Ahmad Bhat, for his contributions.
He stated that the unit holders expressed a desire to empower a younger generation of leaders. “It was the wish of the unit holders to provide an opportunity to younger individuals, who I believe can work more energetically for this industry,” Janwari said.
The election demonstrated strong support for the new president, with 49 of the 56 unit holders voting in his favor, while the other 7 supported the former president.
Janwari promised to represent all members impartially. “I will do my best to meet the expectations of all the unit holders who elected me, as well as those who did not. We will work together as a unified body for the upliftment of this industry,” he affirmed.
He further stated that the association would operate under the umbrella of the Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) to guide the Sopore industry toward greater success.
