Srinagar : Bollywood actress Bhagyashree paid a visit to Srinagar-based fashion designer Sabia’s clothing showroom during her recent trip to the valley.
Sabia is renowned for her exceptional craftsmanship and she specially created a Pheran (traditional Kashmiri attire) for the actress, inspired by the iconic film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ (1989).
When Sabia discovered that Bhagyashree was in Srinagar with her family, she sent an invitation through a well-connected friend from the film industry, inviting the actress to visit their showroom in Baghat area. Surprisingly, Bhagyashree accepted the invitation and visited the showroom on December 19th morning, leaving Sabia overwhelmed with joy and calling it a “dream come true” and a “proud moment.”

During her visit, Bhagyashree praised the craftsmanship of Kashmiri Pherans displayed at the showroom. In a gesture of appreciation, Sabia gifted the actress a specially handcrafted Kashmiri Pheran, designed exclusively by her.
Grateful for the actress’s visit, Sabia expressed her gratitude, saying, “It is really a moment of honor for us. We are grateful to her for accepting our invitation. She encouraged and motivated us too.” Sabia also emphasized the significance of Bhagyashree, a Bollywood celebrity, promoting Kashmiri Pherans, hoping that other celebrities would also develop an affinity for the traditional winter attire.
In a heartwarming gesture, Bhagyashree mentioned Sabia’s clothing brand, The Mirror, on her Instagram handle, praising their pherans as “so pretty.” She even personally wore the gifted Pheran for a function in Lucknow on Sunday, sharing stories about it on her Instagram.
This unique collaboration showcases the fusion of Bollywood and Kashmiri heritage, bringing the traditional Pheran back into the limelight with a creative twist inspired by ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. It not only promotes the rich craftsmanship of the region but also signifies the impact Bollywood has on spreading cultural awareness and appreciation.
